NASA reports that a huge asteroid will pass Earth, with height more than that of a London bridge expected in the late hours of the night. The astronomers of NASA has predicted the diameter of the asteroid about 101.7ft and 226.37ft (31m and 69m). We can understand the importance of this warning by the incident in Russia in 2013 where the asteroid was only 65.6ft (20m) in size and injured 1,000 people there.
The asteroid about which NASA has warned is about 101.7ft and 226.37ft (31m and 69m) in diameter which is considered really large, an asteroid this big could be possibly shattering and they also predict the time on which the Asteroid 2018 TZ2 will be closest to Earth at 10.37pm.
Astronauts are expecting that the asteroid will pass the earth safely with approximately the distance of 0.02324 au or 9.05 Lunar Distances (LD). AU is the astronomical unit of the distance which is same to the distance between Sun and Earth, used as a reference point in the space where as the lunar distance is the distance between Earth and Moon.
NASA has also explained that the distance in human terms can be tens of millions of kilometers so it will be far away and approximately 2.16 million miles (4.47 million km) but still they will say that the asteroid will pass the Earth “closely”. Moreover, the speed of the asteroid will be 37,446.3mph or 16.74 km per second when it will pass the planet. They have explained that many asteroids orbits the Sun, Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) can irregularly come close to Earth and pass it, in which about 99 percent are the asteroids some them are small while the others are big. Therefore the large ones are called “Potentially Hazardous”
The asteroid that will be passing Earth is estimated to pass the planet Venus in the coming month.
